Did a quick loop through Carrizo creek before the desert dragon returns. Was hot nevertheless around high 90's. The Tamarisk is coming back. Didn't see any water. Cats Claw was really thick in places.

Moved over to the other side roamed the badlands. The Lost BM is on this hill.
Hot but nice to get out.

The long history of peoples traveling along Carrizo creek trails and the geology of the entire area is so fantastic. Glad you got out before the heat really turned on.

Tamarisk already coming back?? Wow. Upper Carrizo Creek at I-8 is a complete mess and Google Earth seems to indicate the Carrizo Gorge eradication has ground to a halt. Maybe another couple wind energy projects to fund the long term maintenance? Just kidding. Or, maybe an "Adopt a Tree to Kill Over And Over" might catch on...

The Tamarisk was starting to grow back last year. More this year. I didnt get to the lower Carrizo gorge area this year to see if this area started to come back. I did notice last year in Jacumba Jims the stuff was chainsawed all the way almost to the rock fall. I didn't notice after the fall if any action was done.

Unfortunately the Tamarisk seem hard to permanently remove. Same with the Sahara Mustard.
