Shortly after descending the drop off and entering the gulch, I perched myself atop a ridge to get a few shots of Ollie's FJ making its way through a few rocky sections. As the vehicle started to climb a boulder it suddenly died. Ollie tried starting it again but to no avail. We were suddenly stranded in the desert...

With that and my recent truck troubles I am seriously thinking about selling my newer truck and going back to an older vehicle, something I can fix.

Nice TR. Remember taking my new scratch free Tundra through a short cut from Fish Creek to Diablo not knowing it was The Dropoff. Lesson learned! Glad you made it out okay. Tom.

So true Daren,
Especially if you are out far from any road.
Only bummer is the newer vehicles are a LOT more comfortable getting out to your destination. smile

Awesome write up and trip report!
Interesting how they are reconstructing the stage coach station out there.
Hadn't heard about that.

Looks like you had fantastic weather.

Thanks guys! It was a great trip. I think I'll need to get my HAM radio license. It was the only way we were able to communicate with anyone else.
