We originally hiked to the Carrizo Palms by way of the East Fork close to 5 years ago. Mary and I decided we would hike it again after spending the night camping in Carrizo Gorge.
We woke up in the AM, had a quick breakfast and said goodbye to our friends who were heading home.

Parked the Land Cruiser and prepped for the hike

Beautiful sunny morning as we began our hike up the East Fork

Most of the way to the palms is uphill, which fortunately meant we would have a downhill trek back the the Land Cruiser.

Found one Mylar balloon on the way up.

Not sure what kind of footprint this was.

It is good to be back in Anza Borrego. This one actually stuck in pretty deep. :O

After a two hour trek up the East Fork we arrived at the Carrizo Palms.

Plenty of water below the palms full of tiny tadpoles and water bugs.

The only sound we heard was the rustling of the palms as the warm desert breeze funneled thru the canyon.

Exploring the palm grove.

The brilliant blue desert sky made a nice contrast to the healthy green palm leaves.

Oasis in a remote corner of the Anza Borrego Desert.

Mary cooling off in the prep for the hike back

Hiking back we ran into a female Bighorn Sheep which unfortunately moved a bit too fast for me to get a picture. we also saw Daren driving in up S2 as we we were heading home.

This is a great day hike that I really recommend.
