HZJ80 Kaymar Rear Bumper Install

Nothing sets your Toyota Landcruiser apart from the pack like a heavy duty rear bumper especially when you have the optional tire and gas can carrier mounted to it. This upgrade will let you move the spare tire from underneath the vehicle to the bumper, leaving room for a larger gas tank or even a second spare tire. The jerry can holder gives you the ability to carry 5 extra gallons of fuel, which can be the difference in making it to that last gas station or being stuck out on the trail hoofing it back to the road.

To help me install this beast of a bumper I enlisted the help of my friend Mike at http://www.westcoastcruisers.com/. Not only is Mike an expert on diesel Landcruisers, but his store also stocks hard to find parts for these rare vehicles.

For the most part, installing a Kaymar Rear Bumper on the 80 series Toyota LandCruiser is straightforward. We ran into some trouble when we realized that this particular bumper came off a newer 80 series which has some subtle differences from my 1992 model. Seems the 1991 -1992 80 series have a couple of welded on metal tabs on each rear cross member which prevented us from sliding the bumper on.
No problem for Mike, out came the plasma cutter and no more metal tabs. :)

Mike of http://www.westcoastcruisers.com helped with the Kaymar rear bumper install.
