Well here we go again. Sunrise Powerlink with a polished new name.upset
https://www.anzaborrego.net/2026/04/27/say-no-to-the-golden-pacific-powerlink/

There are some in person and virtual meeting coming up that I have listed on the link above.

I will try to make the Borrego Springs Meeting in person and will probably zoom into the SDG&E meetings.

If theres news about it , its too late. The Sunrise came with baggage, Ocotillio Turbine farm and the ruining of McCain with more Turbines.

Yes it is unfortunate how they turned Ocotillo, McCain etc. into a sacrifice zone.
We were able to get the Sunrise Powerlink rerouted to avoid the park but as you know they went with their alternative southern.route which went through Boulevard, McCain and Cleveland National Forest.
Original fight was to get the Sunrise rejected in any form which didn't happen as you know.

Agree I hate seeing that Tule Wind Farm and then dropping down into Ocotillo to see all of the towers down there.
Devastating

Not sure why they need that power line. Lake Mead gets any lower there will be no power at all. Unless they are going to pull from some place else. California needs to start generating electric thats reliable.

This proposed power line route would run right thru the heart of the backcountry fire zones in SD county, it will most likely be approved but I hope not.

Thanks Daren,
Bri with the ABF was at the Borrego Springs meeting on Wednesday.
I am glad they are getting involved earl in the process
As expected no one in Borrego Springs wants this project to go through.

I put the SDG&E slides up here. They will provide a more detailed map at their virtual meetings next week
