Tecate without a doubt. Plucked from a cooler full of ice, it tastes like cold Tecate. Plucked from that same cooler five days later, and now full of mostly warm water, it still tastes like Tecate. Tried this once with Simpler Times from Trader Joe's and warm it was downright undrinkable.

Cans, no question. They're less likely to break if you hit the whumps too hard with the cooler in the truck, and they make great reusable targets for shooting the next day.

Very cool, I made a (albeit poorer quality) PDF version a few weeks ago if anyone's interested.

Agreed 100%. It's really no wonder Tanya left him, imho, and giving that ice cream to the librarian was insult to injury.

Resurrecting this old thread since I wondered the same and found some info from StevesKJ over on the Outdoor Adventures forums, thanks to BorregoWrangler's help.

I knew Mark since the early nineties. He wasn't very old and seemed in good health. A little wild sometimes - he drove a full-sized lifted F-250 through the "Squeeze". It wasn't a pretty sight!!! I wasn't out with them when he expired. I think I would have really freaked out. We did put the marker out there a short time later in his memory.

He was 39 and died of a heart attack on the trail from the sound of things.

There are several web sites that have complete, or almost so, sets of Desert Magazine online as pdf's now.

There goes any hope I had of getting work done today. Thanks!

Not my photo (credit to Space Cowboy) but it certainly belongs in this thread.

I haven't seen it with my own eyes, but did find this pic online. Word is the dropoff has been graded and the rocks removed from the area below.

Yeah, when I was over there in early fall it was torn up almost to the point of impassible. I'm headed out this week and will certainly grab some pictures of my own.

Sweet ride! I had an '89 that went all over the park without issue, only got rid of it because it didn't want to haul two dirt bikes and a trailer. Hope to see you out there in it!

Yep, KK6ANO. My wife and I (and a few friends) mostly use simplex for communication when we're out on the trail.

I'm curious if anyone knows anything about the history of the rock house and mine west of Butterfield Ranch in Mason Valley? I know Daren has visited at least the rock house in the album below. I'll be leading a hike out in October for OAUSA's Borregofest (http://forums.oausa.net/viewforum.php?f=193) and would love to be able to provide some basic information, thanks!

I bought this product back when it was Anza-Borrego explorer despite being skeptical about the cost; after actually using this map I felt it was money well spent. When I saw he was continuing to update the maps I bought a lifetime subscription, and am thrilled to see he's added Riverside and San Bernardino counties! Just wish I'd had this map for my riding up in Big Bear over the summer! In my experience the routes have always been spot on, this is consistently the best map product I've used.

If you're heading to the siding station just take Mortero Wash (just north of the Border Patrol station), should be doable in a 2wd.
