Has anyone been following the Tamarisk removal at the Carrizo Marsh? 200 acres to be removed with environmental mitigation money from the Ocotillo wind generators.

The marsh is closed by order of Kathy Dice, 1 mile east of the Vallecito/Canyon Sin Nombre jct. No word on when it will reopen. I'll check it out next week.

Me digging up old posts again...we did work on the machine that was shredding tamarisk in carrizo gorge, which is how I originally heard about it. Didn't seem like a good idea based on my experience and research. Salt Cedar is very tough and must be burnt and the seed beds and sprouts, etc. burned every year for 3-4 years to eradicate. Simply grinding them up makes it worse and now seems to be the case in CG. The marsh, I have not recently been to but think/hope it has been more successful due to the burning method. edited by davidwyby on 1/10/2020
