I went out to Kitchen Creek a few weeks ago on one of our rainy days. It wasn't too cold or windy, so I handled it ok. smile Here are some pictures.

Nice photos. I ran into a couple of researchers collecting ticks along Pine Valley Creek last week. They said that the tick species (Ixodes) responsible for carrying Lyme disease is mostly-absent from extreme southern CA. They also confirmed that in areas where Western Fence lizards occur, that Lyme disease is largely-absent. https://www.sfgate.com/health/article/Lizards-Slow-Lyme-Disease-in-West-Ticks-bite-3009330.php

Nice report on Kitchen Creek.

I hate ticks. On Palomar near Agua Tibia and Eagle Crag they are everywhere.

I know two people first hand who have been diagnosed with Lyme in San Diego County. They may or may not have picked it up outside the county but were diagnosed here.

I found a deer tick crawling on my hand when I was taking pictures of the sheep off Montezuma a couple weeks ago.

Thanks guys! I didn't see any ticks out there, but it was a really mellow trip. I only walked up the paved road past the gate towards Sunrise Highway, and then poked around a little by the bridge on my way out. I wasn't really in any heavy (or even light) vegetation.

BHS and ticks seem to go hand in hand...had some BP agent tell me he always got ticks out near the island when following sheep trails.

Same here, only 10 years ago...was heading out to hike the secret cyn trail and some guy was there collecting ticks.

Have had ticks in the last several months hiking Cuyamaca/Laguna with Gary and Tom also....they are out there, you gotta watch for them.
