Tom and I did a 2 day backpack on the east side of the tracks, poking around the old RR camps.

Yeah, we did a loop and dropped down into Indian Hill and back to the cars.

Looks like an interesting trip. A lot of history in some of those photos. What is that animal skeleton? Some kind of rodent?

Yeah, nice overnight trip. Think those booze bottles were stealthy mouse traps. Able to squeeze in but too slippery to get out. Those tunnel bypass roads seem to be especially attractive to chollas for some reason. Here's a couple more pics:

I saw a lantern last year that had maybe 20 dead lizards in it (I do not think I took a picture). Apparently the lizards had no problem finding their way into it but could not find their way out.
I did a 12 day backpack in NM in late summer. One of the boys found a spear head that was in similar shape to that arrow head (both are in near the shape at the time of the creation). I did shoot a photo of the spear head as it was special because I have not personally found a spear head and it was in great condition. You found a very nice arrow head.

Those darn predator traps! Have rescued a couple snakes and lizards from some in the past. Finding points these days is always nice since most have already walked away. Spear points/darts are an especially nice find.

Nice find. In the general area of the stacked powder cans theres a large enclosure that has a complete bottom section to a bowl or vase. Then a lot of the smaller busted pieces. I sometimes wonder when you come across these pieces where the rest of them to complete the form they were.

Nice finds Gents!
Tommy: That's a fine arrow point there. Looks like it's made from Wonder stone. Found down near the Salton sink.
Daren: Do I see carbon staining on the granite? Looks like a fire pit? Nice BIG shards you found there. Old!

Definitely not a fire pit, I was crawling on hands and knees uphill in a super small crevice where I found these. I think they dropped from above and over time just got worked down into the boulders. I was practically laying on my stomach taking the picture....hantavirus here I come...!
