Not Anza Borrego related but we were amazed by the similarities to the Blue Sun Cave pictographs at Indian Hill.
The cave at Catavina is amazing and despite the 108' Baja desert heat the cave was quite comfortable. It sits atop a ridge overlooking the large Cardon filled desert.

Those are really neat pics! The pictographs hardly looked faded. Is is well protected? Tom

Cave is very well protected.
It was probably 25' cooler inside the cave. You can definetly see why the Cochimi chose that cave.

Here you go 
This Baja cactus had a lot of personality
Blooming Elephant Tree. Elephant Trees are quite abundant in Baja which is funny considering their relative scarcity in Anza Borrego
Unlike the yellow flowers we get on our Anza Borrego version the flowers on these barrel cactus were a bright red.
Worshiping the mighty Cardon ;-)
Really good idea to travel to Central Baja in multiple 4x4s

I was going to say the same thing... those pictos are very well-preserved! Wish I knew what some of the symbols meant to those folks. Nice trip.

Not sure if they have been touched up similar to the Indian Hill and Carrizo Gorge Pictos?

Nice cave pics! Yes very similar. Looks like they were counting marks. Number of peoples in local tribe? Number of large game kills?
Wonder what the rectangular grid is all about. Family unit?

Have done some research but not able to find much about them.
I do know this is one of the more widely photographed pictographs in Baja
Pretty much right off the highway with a short hike up a hill

I wonder about the different colors of sun symbols. Why have an all-black sun? It must mean something considerably different from a blue sun with a yellow ring around it. I imagine the folks who study these have a grand 'ol time!
