Greetings! I've lurked on this forum for some time now and have enjoyed reading everyone's trip reports from Anza Borrego. So I figured it was time to join. My name is John and I live in El Cajon with my wife, Autumn and 19 month old daughter, Audrey. We love getting out into the back country to camp and explore. I enjoy hiking out to Goat Canyon to see the old railroad trestle, as well as Maidenhair Falls in Hellhole Canyon. Other favorites include Coyote Canyon, Fish Creek/Split Mountain, Sandstone Canyon, Dos Cabezas, Carrizo Creek, Arroyo Tapiado, Arroyo Seco Del Diablo Canyon, Vallecito Wash, Painted Gorge, Carrizo Mountain, the Yuha Desert and much more.

My last trip on out to the desert was a prerun for an annual event (BorregoFest) that's hosted by another forum out in ABDSP. Here are a few photos and link to the full trip report:

Last year we had Lowell and Diana Lindsay as guest speakers on Friday evening discussing the many new sculptures that grace the Anza Borrego Desert. This year Diana and Lowell will again join us for a special presentation at 8:30 PM on Friday evening, 10/19/12. The topic will be one of Anza Borrego's most famous residents - Marshal South. The presentation will take place at the community room at the Butterfield Ranch Resort. Diana will have several of her books available for sale, including "the Anza Borrego Desert Region", books on Marshal South, and books on other areas of interest for this area.

Also on Friday around noon, we will be hiking to Ghost Mountain to explore the site of the Marshal South home and will also be exploring Indian ruins that South wrote about for Desert Magazine. Time permitting, we will also visit the site of a jet plane crash which is near where we will be exploring. Although, I still need a backpack to carry my daughter in.
