Ocotillo Blooms in Feb?

I was able to get out last Monday for field day to Split Mountain and noticed on the way home driving that almost all of the ocotillos were blooming bright red buds. I was wondering if the funky warm weather was making them think it was spring a little early. Has anybody else notice this recently?

They're all blooming along S22 and Coyote mtn too.

Ocotillo were blooming at 2200 ft. elevation at [an undisclosed location] this past weekend.
