Jojoba Wash

In a semi-hidden wash marked by a small roadside sign, is an area in Anza Borrego known for its’ proliferation of Jojoba bushes.

Some facts about the Jojoba Bush

The Jojoba bush takes up to seven years to produce a Jojoba nut which can then be harvested for use in cosmetics, cooking and lubricants. The Jojoba it is a dioecious plant, meaning that male and female flowers grow on separate plants. It is also believed that the Jojoba nut was a food source for Indigenous tribes who would grind the inch long nut into a powder to make a coffee like drink.
