Anza Borrego

Desert Wildflower Update For Southern Anza Borrego

Saturday found us back out in southern Anza Borrego to see if any of the buds we saw on our last Anza Borrego trip had bloomed.

Heading north on S2 past Mortero Wash I was a bit disappointed on the lack of desert color.. There was the occasional flowering Brittlebush and a few blooming Chuparosa bushes, but besides that things looked pretty much the same as our last trip.

We decided to stop in Indian Gorge for a quick lunch break and that is where our luck changed. We discovered  that the Barrel Cacti we saw on our last trip were now flowering.

Continuing further north we were also happy to see the Sand Verbena lining the road.

Looks like things are starting to bloom, so start planning your Anza Borrego wildflower trip. There is a ton of green grass everywhere and I am guessing the Desert Dandelions are going to start popping up also.
